What is laser cutting?

Laser cutting is a technique where a powerful laser beam cuts material with great precision. The laser essentially burns through the material, creating a very clean cut line. Because the laser operates under computer control, virtually any shape and design can be cut.

In addition to laser cutting, we can also laser engrave. This involves locally burning away the surface of the material, creating an engraving. This is ideal for text, logos, images, and markings on products.

Laser cutting is suitable for both creative projects and technical applications, and is widely used for prototypes, models, product parts, interior decoration, signage, and promotional gifts.

Laser cutting and engraving possibilities

The maximum size for cutting materials is 1200 x 1200 millimeters. For engraving, there is a maximum size of 1150 x 1200 mm.

The machine bed can be lowered by 400 mm. This makes it possible to handle objects with a height of 400 mm to engrave it anyway.

We can also open the machine at the front and back. This allows longer items to be placed inside. For longer items, the maximum height is 30mm to be.

The difference between extruded (XT) and cast (GS) acrylic / Plexiglas lies in their manufacturing process, which affects their properties and applications. **Extruded Acrylic (XT):** * **Manufacturing Process:** Extruded acrylic is made by heating acrylic pellets and forcing them through a die. This continuous process results in a more uniform thickness and a smoother finish. * **Properties:** * **More Flexible:** It is generally more flexible and less brittle than cast acrylic. * **Easier to Work With:** It can be more easily cut, drilled, and thermoformed without cracking. * **Less Expensive:** Typically more cost-effective due to the continuous manufacturing process. * **Lower Molecular Weight:** This contributes to its flexibility and ease of fabrication. * **Slightly Lower Optical Clarity and Scratch Resistance:** While still very clear, it may have slightly less optical perfection and scratch resistance compared to cast acrylic. * **Less Resistant to Certain Solvents:** Can be more susceptible to damage from certain harsh chemicals. * **Common Applications:** Displays, point-of-purchase materials, framing, lighting fixtures, general glazing, and applications where ease of fabrication and cost are primary concerns. **Cast Acrylic (GS):** * **Manufacturing Process:** Cast acrylic is made by pouring liquid acrylic monomer into a mold formed by two sheets of glass.
